What is GivingTuesday?

What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday began in 2012 one simple idea, a day encouraging people to do good. Since then, it’s gained momentum all around the world.

It happens every year after the massive shopping days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a time for us all to come together and participate in giving back.

GivingTuesday is a day of generosity. This can mean a number of things. Whether it’s volunteering in your community, helping out a friend or donating to a great cause, every act helps.

Shelter Movers has joined this global day of unity as a way to participate in a movement with the power to create a positive impact and allow us to better serve survivors of gender-based violence.

Give your goods – donate your unused items to a local shelter.

Give your talent – if you have a great skill, share some of it with a local nonprofit – many of which don’t have the resources for large HR, marketing or tech teams. Shelter Movers is always looking for talented, dedicated volunteers in a variety of different roles. Consider joining our team!

Give your voice – amplify the causes that you’re passionate about by getting out there and speaking up. We are asking our supporters who are passionate about the fight to end gender-based violence use their voices to speak up and shed light on the horrific reality of violence in homes across Canada.

How do you like to give back to your community?
