Shelter Movers Ottawa has been around since October 2017. We started quite small, but grew really fast. When we hit 100 moves, it was a big celebration. Last year, when we held our gala, we were happy to have completed 250 moves. This year we’re on track to complete 500 moves. While this may be a milestone for us, it really showcases how prominent the issue of domestic abuse is, and the need for our services. With the increased isolation during the pandemic, we’ve seen a nearly 40% increase in requests for our services.
While we can’t host our regular fundraising events this year, we decided to do something to raise people’s spirits. We’ve decided to brighten up Ottawa!
Individuals and businesses throughout our community are encouraged to decorate their door, register in our contest, and participate in a little friendly competition by getting their supporters to donate to their page. The door that’s raised the most donations is our winner!
In honour of getting us to our 500th move, we’re giving away over $500 in prizes!
Brighten Ottawa - The Contest
Decorate your door. In anyway you want! It can be holiday-themed, it can be funny, it can be whatever YOU want!
Register in the contest. You can register as a team (a household, a business, etc.) or as an individual. Take a photo of your door and upload it to our contest. Registration is $25. Voting starts on December 1st (GivingTuesday).
Share! You’ll get your own page and link to share so people can vote for YOU! Share your personalized link encouraging your friends, family, and everyone else to vote for you by donating.
Keep sharing and voting – the winner will the most donations raised will be announced on the 15th of December!
